Message ...and you don't have to be running at full boost to have big-time heat problems. I ran 163-165 for about 13 miles in the longest straight at the most recent race, and the boost needle stayed between 3-6 psi. That speed was nowhere near the max potential of the car, but I needed a seriously upgraded water cooling system, with some air ducting, along with a 15-quart dry sump just to keep the water/oil temps at 205/195 respectively, even at less-than-top-speeds.

Endurance turbo cars require very robust cooling systems or they will destroy themselves. It's funny, because as soon as the experienced guys at those races learn that you're running a turbo car, they ask "Gotta big radiator? What about an oil cooler?" Otherwise they know to expect at least one breakdown.

I'm reminded of the Supra which attempted the 170-class in the Pony Express in 2001. Dude had a very nicely assembled car, huge turbos, all that. He blew a head gasket within a few miles. Nuff said.
